PURSUING A MEDICAL EDUCATION?

 

Senate Bill 940 has a created a program for graduating seniors to:

 

·        Provide services to support and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged students pursuing a medical education.

·        Award undergraduate and medical school scholarships.

·        Provide for the admission of those students to satisfy both academic and nonacademic requirements to at least one participating medical school.

·        Students accepted to the program will receive:

 

1.   $2000 scholarship per semester beginning in the student’s sophomore year.

2.   $4000 stipend to attend summer internships following the student’s freshman, sophomore, and junior years of college at one the participating medical schools.

3.   Mentoring and personal assistance to prepare for medical school while attending undergraduate school.

4.   Admission to a Texas medical school if all program requirements are met.

5.   A scholarship to attend medical school.
