Freshman/Sophomore

College Checklist 

    

    1.    Make good grades.  College decisions are partially based upon the

        grades you make in freshman – junior years.

 

    2.    Participate in volunteer and extra-curricular activities and keep a    

         record of them as well as any awards/honors you receive.

    

    3.    Research careers.  KUDER, College Board, and Facts on File are  

        great resources.

    

    4.    Save your best essays.  They could possibly be used or reworked

        for your college essay and/or scholarship essays.

    

    5. Ask your English teachers regarding essay contests.

 

    6. Visit local colleges.

 

    7. Check into summer programs and internships.

    

    8. Look for scholarships on websites such as Fast Web or

        Scholarships.com.

 

    9.    Sophomores, take the PSAT.  It’s free your sophomore year in Alief

        ISD!
