| Program Purpose |
| The purpose of the S.O.A.R. program is to provide an
accelerated learning experience in the core courses for credit-deficient
students, by affording them the opportunity to graduate with their class. |

| High School Program
Requirements |
Students to be served should meet the following
requirements:
 |
Must be currently enrolled in an Alief
ISD high school |
 |
Must be 15 years of age or will turn
15
during the Fall Semester |
 |
Must not be involved in any pending
major disciplinary action and not currently placed at A.L.C. |
 |
Must be deficient in credits |
 |
Must demonstrate acceptable scores on
district-approved reading assessments |

| Enrollment Criteria |
 | Students currently enrolled in Alief ISD must complete an
application and participate in a personal interview with S.O.A.R. staff.
Information considered by the interview team will include
a review of test scores, attendance data, past academic performance, and
disciplinary records. Recommendations may be obtained from the student's
home campus Assistant Principal and/or Counselor. |

The student and parent must consent to
participate in the program and to follow the guidelines. |
 |
The student must agree to follow the
rules and regulations of the school district

| S.O.A.R. is located in Annex
between Hastings and Elsik High Schools. |

S.O.A.R. operates on a
regular high school schedule in accordance with the school calendar |
 | High school students will remain
enrolled at their main campus, and they will attend S.O.A.R. classes in
the Annex building |

Transportation is provided for
eligible bus riders |

Nutrition Department Services
(cafeteria) and clinical services are available in the Annex |
