Teacher Retirement
A required deduction
for Texas public school employees who work a minimum of 20 hours/week. A total of
7 percent of each employees gross pay is deducted with 6.4 percent being non taxable.
The other 0.65 percent goes toward the TRS-Care Program (health insurance).
TRS provides members
with an annual statement of their account showing all deposits made from September through
August and the total account balance. Interest credit is 5% of your average annual
balance and is added to your account on August 31st of each year.
If you have moved, please complete a
change of address form with the Human Resources Record Specialist for your
campus/department. Once this is complete, a electronic
change of address record will be submitted to TRS via TRAQS.
Employees who plan
to retire under TRS should notify Teacher Retirement as soon as possible in order to
