History of Best Elementary School

Alief Independent School District

Betty Roberts Best Elementary School opened its doors in 1991 to over one thousand students with the goal to create a school whose diverse staff, dynamic instruction, innovative use of technology, and high student achievement would be a model for the state of Texas. This goal reflects the high standards of its namesake, Mrs. Betty Roberts Best who retired as associate superintendent . She has received recognition for the quality of instruction at the elementary level.

The school is a part of the renowned Alief Independent School District, a beacon for excellence in the Houston metropolitan area. The school is located on the far southeastern edge of Alief I.S.D., a formerly suburban, "small town" school district.  Under the leadership of Lorena Augustus, Best is thriving as a professional learning community that includes input from the parents, teachers and the community .

Best looks forward to continuing to strive for excellence in meeting the needs of its students.
