Saying Goodbye
Here you all have gathered on this day
To bid my spirit go its way
I want no tears, just lots of smiles
As you assemble in these aisles
Celebrate my life and what we shared
Tell all the things about which I cared
About how I loved to travel
About the things that made me unravel
About my energy and vibrant side
About my loves and my heart so wide
About how I loved my days of teaching
And the wonderful kids I was reaching
About my Delta Kappa Gamma chapter
And the sisters with which I shared much
laughter
And don’t forget my sweet new pet
Who I rescued and took to the vet
My days on Earth are over now
I’m finished here and have taken my bow
I’ve crossed over into a new dimension
Where God Almighty has everyone’s attention
But here’s some advice I’d like to mention
It’s up to you to take my place
Plan each day to do a good deed
Shower love and forgiveness on all who need
Take up a book for a good long read
Share your love with a child so he’ll succeed
Sing a song and say a prayer
Send a card to show that you care
Encourage those who are feeling low
Show love and compassion wherever you go
Keep your eyes focused on God above
For it is He who sends you His grace and love
Don’t cry for me and please don’t be sad
I’m in a better place, feeling fine, and I am
glad
So come on now, you can’t be late
My life and times you all must celebrate!
