Class
Rules
Back
1.
Be in your seat when the bell rings.
Wait for teacher dismissal to leave.
2. Bring classroom supplies daily.
3. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized to speak.
4.
Be courteous toward other people and respect their
property.
5.
Gum is not allowed on campus.
You should not eat or chew anything in class.
Additional requests: We are in a lab environment.
Safety is an issue. Part of my job is to prepare you for doing labs safely
in middle school as well as some of the more hazardous labs in high school.
Whether we are working with potentially dangerous materials or not, I will
expect students to follow all safety rules set in place.
Items that have nothing to do with school should be left in lockers or at home.
There should be no mirrors (unless a contact lens problem
arises), no brushes, makeup, photo albums, cell phones, toys, etc. out in
class. Although you are allowed to possess some of these on campus, they
are not to be out during instruction time within the classroom.
If a student has a problem with another student, settle it quietly or ask me for
assistance. Loud arguments or physical contact will result in office
referral. There should be no running. Ask before borrowing any
materials whether it is from me or another student. Always take care of
supplies and return them in good condition. Destructive behavior will also
result in disciplinary action.
Restroom Passes: Students are provided a five minute passing time between classes to go to the restroom, gather supplies from their locker, and other necessary business. Responsibility, time management, and organization are skills that are being taught school-wide. Each student will receive four “hall passes” that can be used in any of the team classes. These passes may be used at any point during the rest of the year. In order for the student to be able to leave the classroom to go to their locker or the restroom, he/she must present a hall pass, have on their picture ID (no temporary IDs), and have his/her student planner. The planners actually include the hall pass that students take with them when they leave the room. These passes are only for use in our four academic team classes.
In addition, there are some special
guidelines for advisory.
1.
Monday and Wednesday are silent reading.
This is reading for pleasure, and
not time to do homework.
This is a
school wide activity and is not optional.
If the student does not bring something to read, I will
provide reading
material.
2. Tuesday and Friday are study days. We have special advisory activities to do on Thursdays.
3. Students should be silent and pay close attention while announcements are on.
4. Students should promptly return signed progress reports and report cards to advisory. If not returned within 3-4 days, teacher detentions or other consequences will be assigned.
5. A student should always bring their planner to advisory.
